Adele’s “30” drops November 19

17 years ago, Adele published her first album, 19, and no one’s car radio has been the same since. The British pop star has taken the world by storm, topping the charts for weeks, and strumming people’s heartstrings for over a decade.  Her most recent album, 25, was released in 2015 and produced major hits such as “Hello”, “Send my Love”, and “When we were young”. With over 120 million albums sold, she is one of the most successful musicians in the world. She has also been on countless international tours since her first debut album rose to fame. 

After her most recent album was published in 2015, she has yet to release any more music for the past 6 years. At the beginning of October, signs of her new album started to appear on billboards and various social media posts around the world. Adele later announced that a new single “Easy on me” would be released that incoming Friday on all streaming devices. In recent interviews, Adele tells reporters how she and her husband filed for divorce and dealt with mountains of grief. She has taken time to come to terms with her new life and to raise the son she has with her now ex-husband.

Now she is ready to make her dramatic comeback into the music industry.

Drew Shortenhaus, a senior, explained how much he enjoys the song: “I believe the amount of depth and meaning behind the words in her single really portray how she’s feeling”. He says her music is “timeless” and feels “her new release has increased her popularity”.

On the contrary, Allison Roberts, senior, said, “I never think that artists who take a break are as good when they return from their break” and explains how she thinks that “all of her songs kind of sound the same and this song was no different”.
