Throughout Waukee High school, students listen to all different kinds of music. In classrooms, music is used to encourage and relax students during their learning time. It is apparent that music is big in many students’ school days. But what are they really listening to?
Students are listening to a variety of new hits and old jams when they are at school. A survey that was sent to all students at Waukee, asked what their favorite song was and why. Publications staffers were surprised at how diverse the music taste was here at Waukee, and staffers found some new favorite songs! The music taste at Waukee definitely speaks for all of the students, and the diverse styles each student has. A lot of students submitted responses mentioned that they liked their favorite song, just because it was fun to listen to.
Sophomore Zaida Stroud says that she likes the song “All Too Well,” by Taylor Swift because you can “Scream in your car to the lyrics.” Not only did students respond to these questions, but teachers and staff as well. Student teacher Mr. Alessio says that his favorite song connects to a past time. “My friends and I really liked this song almost 10 years ago – there’s a lot of nostalgia, and it sounds nostalgic,” he says, referring to his favorite song, “Instant Crush,” by Daft Punk.
Because music is a very important part of the culture at Waukee, Waukee Publication staffers wanted to create their own class and group identity by creating a playlist. Below are all of the staffers’ favorite songs!
