Now that spring is in full swing, many artists of all genres are announcing release dates for new and upcoming albums. Artists like Kendrick Lamar, Harry Styles, Lizzo, and Jack Harlow are expected to drop during the next few months to start off in summer 2022.
The most anticipated album of the year for rap is Kendricks Lamars, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, which is set to be released on May 13, 2022. It is his first studio album since the release of 2017’s critically acclaimed Damn. Kendrick announced the big drop by a letter from the recording studio on his Instagram on April 18. In August 2021, the rapper teased that the record would be his “final TDE album.” “May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling,” he wrote. “There’s beauty in completion. And always faith in the unknown.” At the time, Lamar didn’t offer any specific details about the record but did say, “Love, Loss, and grief have disturbed my comfort zone, but the glimmers of God speak through my music and family. While the world around me evolves, I reflect on what matters the most. The life in which my words will land next.”
Harry Styles’s new album, Harry’s House is projected to release on May 20th. Styles shared the official album cover on March 23 on all social media platforms. Harry’s House will mark his first album since Fine Line’s debut in December of 2019 and his third solo record. The single “As it was,” released April 1st, beat the Guinness world record for having the most-streamed song on Spotify in a day. The song hit over 16 million streams in its first 24-hours. The song gives a perfect window down, beach day vibe that will start off the summer season perfectly, which is what most fans believe he is going for in his upcoming album. Harry also performed three songs from the new album at Coachella Music Festival in LA the past two weeks, one being “As it was” and the others being “Boyfriends” and “Late night talking.”
