All year, Waukee High School has had lots of success with sports, arts, and academics. From football season in the fall to the winter dance in February, students have had many things to look forward to. As the school year wraps up, it may be difficult to find as much to get involved in, and the thought of summer break right around the corner is too exciting to focus on school. However, the final term of a high school year can be packed with many exciting events and activities that students can participate in. Here is a look at some spring activities to keep the end of the year engaging and fun!
Support Waukee Warriors
While some students may be involved in a spring sport or activity, some students struggle to find a season or a performance to look forward to. Even if students are not on the field or stage this spring, they can still watch and support their peers who are. The spring musical “Be More Chill,” is a great way to show support for the drama department at Waukee. The show will be shown at Waukee High School in the auditorium on April 8-10, students can look in their emails and the Warrior Weekly letter to purchase tickets on sale. Another thing to look forward to is supporting students participating in spring sports. Currently, Waukee has students competing in Track and field, Soccer, and Tennis. All of these athletes would greatly appreciate the support of the Warriors at their sporting events.
Prom and After Prom
Not only can students support their friends, but they can participate in typical spring activities at Waukee. Prom is one of the biggest celebrations of the year and many students attend every year. This dance is for the junior and senior class; sophomores can also attend with the exception that they are asked by an upperclassman. The dance typically takes place at a venue away from Waukee High School. To find out more information about the prom, The Warrior Weekly will send emails about the venue and time of the dance. Don’t like dancing and dressing up? Prom is more than just that. Waukee has a spectacular after prom that any student in the junior and senior class can attend. After prom is at the high school from 11 pm- 5 am. Students can participate in a variety of activities including raffles, inflatables, carnival games, karaoke, and more. After prom caters food from students’ favorite spots in Waukee and has a lot of fun-filled prizes for students to win. While the details are still being decided for this year’s prom and after prom, students can be expected to receive emails about tickets, location, and date information.
For the seniors
There are a lot of things to look forward to at the end of the year for the graduating class. Graduation is right around the corner, which means party planning and party attending. These invite exclusive parties are a great way to celebrate with peers and get to meet new people. Many students, no matter what grade, attend their friends’ high school graduation parties. The most exciting thing of all for the graduating class is commencement, and getting to actually graduate! Future graduates of Waukee in the class of 2022 can expect to have a practice ceremony and senior picnic, before the commencement celebration. Commencement this year will happen on May 22 at 1 pm at Wells Fargo Arena. More information about graduation and commencement will be sent in Warrior weekly emails.
With all of the exciting things happening at the high school this final term, it is important to keep pushing and working hard in classes. Keep up the good work warriors, and end the year with a positive and motivated mindset!
