The cross-country season is coming to a close, but Garrett Weber plans on giving it his all. Throughout the season, he has been working on improving his record to run a course in 16:12. He recently qualified for the state meet.
He’s been running cross country for over 4 years and started because of his dad, who also ran cross country when he was younger. “I like the atmosphere, hanging out with my friends daily at practice, and the chance to get a pr. It’s exciting to me,” Weber explains. Running on the cross-country team for 4 years made him make strong friendships with some of the guys on the team. “Pretty much the best friends I’ve made I got from the team,” he says.
The cross-country season this year has been rough, but Garrett has been working hard to achieve his PR and win. During practice, Weber says that his strategy is, “Just staying consistent with practicing, not overdoing things, not underdoing things, just staying in a nice consistent area.” With district competitions coming up, we can expect to see Garrett try his absolute hardest.
