Last week in the Fiesta Bowl, an absolute thriller of a game took place. From C.J. Stroud’s 5 touchdowns to the miraculous comeback by the bulldogs. With a final score of 42-41 Tin favor of the Georgia Bulldogs, this game will be idolized in college football history. In the first half, the buckeyes came out screaming with a blistering 38 points by the start of the 4th quarter. On the other side of things, Georgia struggled, having only 7 first-half points. Then the impossible happened. Georgia, with 11 minutes left in the game, scored 18 unanswered points, leading to a missed kick by the buckeyes with 3 seconds left in the game. The scene of Stetson Bennet on his hands and knees as the kick went up will forever be remembered in both Georgia and college football history. In conclusion, this thriller of a game has led to yet another appearance by the Georgia Bulldogs in the National Championship, which hopefully will be another thriller with the likes of TCU.
The most exciting Fiesta Bowl game ever took place on December 31st, 2022 which saw the Michigan Wolverines take on the TCU Horned Frogs in a nail-biting game. Michigan received the ball first and a big run on the first play from scrimmage took Michigan all the way down to TCU’s red zone. Though the big run got them there the drive stalled out and in a bold move Michigan decided to go for it on 4th down, this would later come back to bite Michigan in the eventual loss. TCU would strike first on a pick-six thrown by JJ McCarthy and this would be a sign of scoring to come in this game. Michigan was seemingly out of it after TCU took a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter but Michigan believed they were still not out of it. In quarter two the TCU horned frogs continued to score putting up another 7 points while Michigan settled for two field goals. The third quarter is when the time came for Michigan to put up points but at this point, TCU was still scoring as well putting up another 20 points as Michigan put up 24. The fourth quarter came which saw TCU eventually hang on vs Michigan in a final score of 51-45.
What is expected of the college football championship? The Georgia Bulldogs are a heavy favorite to win this year. Although the Bulldogs are favored, college football fans have learned not to doubt TCU, with their exciting win over Michigan last week. Both teams have a Heisman finalist quarterback, and the game is going to be no less than a close matchup.
