What holidays are celebrated across WHS?

Since it is the new year let’s take a look back on the holiday season and reflect. Whether you celebrate Christmas or Kwanzaa, everyone can find ways to celebrate this holiday season. I sent out a google form to people in WHS regarding the holidays, and which holidays are their favorites. In this google form, I included the following holidays: New Year, Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day, Saint Patrick’s Day, Eid al-Fitr, Cinco de Mayo, Easter, 4th of July, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Christmas.
Out of all my responses, Christmas came out as the favorite holiday in WHS. In my google form, I had 20 responses. 15 out of 20 said Christmas is their favorite holiday. There are many reasons why this is the case. “I know I’ll get to see the family members that I haven’t seen in a while”, says sophomore Zach Wagener. “Even though my family and I aren’t religious, I still love to see the festivity and the exchange of gifts.” Cat Bower, a sophomore says. Lastly, junior Landen Demunbrun says “The food around Christmas time is always the best!”
While we have gotten great responses about Christmas, we also have some responses regarding different holidays. We had a few people say that Halloween was their favorite as well as Thanksgiving. “Halloween is a unique holiday where people get to dress up,” says Madison Hasty, a sophomore.
The holiday season is a wonderful time to spend time with family and friends and has laughs and cries. The amount of memories shared and remembered during this time is unmatched. I really hope everyone enjoyed their winter break and had amazing celebrations, no matter what it is. Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year
