Netflix’s Lastest Hit: Ginny and Georgia

Netflix’s latest hit, Ginny and Georgia is a tv show that is on Netflix that released its first season on February 24th, 2021. With its successful season, and great production, the second season came out on January 5th, 2023. This show keeps you very intrigued and on the edge of your seat, there are always cliffhangers after almost every episode. They are also always showing the different steps of the investigations they are having on Georgia. It also keeps you very intrigued when the show goes black in time and shows how Georgia acted back then and how she still acts the same way. Ginny, a teenage girl, has a confusing relationship with her mom. She also has a younger half-brother named Austin which she takes care of and loves very much. In season one you find out why their family is always moving around, and you watch Ginny having to fit in at a new school and making new friends. Ginny likes where they are right now more than any other school/home she’s been in. During this season Georgia (Ginny’s mom) gets engaged to the mayor. Most people enjoy both seasons but once you finish season two it seems better than the first one. For senior, Maddy Baumann, who is halfway through season one, explains how “so far season one is pretty good and I can’t wait to finish both seasons.” Throughout the first season, Ginny starts to find out more and more things about how her mom is acting and questions why they always keep moving. At the end of season one, Ginny and Austin betray their mom and Paul (her finance) and leave them to go to Ginny’s dad’s house. Because Ginny and Austin start realizing what others have been telling them like investigators and other adults and finding suspicious things in their mom’s room. They both knew their mom wasn’t treating them right, so leaving her without notice was going to really set her off and make her realize how she’s made her kids feel with all of the secrets she had been hiding. 

Although season one is enjoyable to watch, students tend to enjoy season two better because it has more action and suspense. Junior Kadyn Roberts explains “I like season two better because it’s more interesting and I think the next season somehow Georgia will find her way out of getting arrested for the murder.” Season two starts when Ginny and Austin stay at Ginny’s dad’s house for a while because they don’t want to be associated with their mom at the time. Ginny also has other mental health issues happening now too because of how the way her mom treats her. Ginny and Austin eventually come back but are not on good terms with Georgia, their mom. Austin’s dad then comes back too and Austin loves it but Georgia does not at all. Georgia doesn’t have good terms with Austin’s dad but she is on better terms with Ginny’s dad. Ginny also officially starts dating her neighbor(Marcus) who she has been in love with for so long. But then Marcus starts to have bad mental health problems and so he breaks up with Ginny, breaking her heart. Sophomore Emma Pitz also states “I really liked the last episode of Ginny and Georgia and I think Georgia gets out of jail, and Ginny and Marcus get back together.” Toward the end of the second season, it took a twist. All of Georgia’s secrets start to get revealed and she gets arrested leaving it at a cliffhanger.
