Blooming Time in Des Moines: The Botanical Gardens in Des Moines is fun to visit for its beautiful scenery and vast variety of flowers

The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden is a wonderful place to visit with tons of life, maybe not animals like we’d all hope, but plenty of lively plants to look at and take pictures of. Here are some of my photos at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden.
This photo is a pretty nostalgic photo, I feel that no matter where you went when you were younger, these flowers were everywhere. They had a soft waxy kind of feel to the petals and a spiky stem. Not a poky spike but a soft kind of spike.
These are another set of nostalgic flowers, these used to be literally everywhere. They had a similar feel to the last photo, a soft waxy feel, the only thing different about this flower is the very thick stem, it didn’t seem right at first but it makes more sense since this flower looks somewhat heavy.
This photo has one of the flowers that were in the extra room outside of the Botanical Gardens dome. The flowers that were in this room were very exotic looking, it wasn’t as hot as it was in the dome so I would guess these aren’t tropical flowers but they still look amazing.
These were another set of flowers in the extra room of the garden, they remind me a lot of those dinosaurs in Jurassic park that have flaps and shoot venom, the yellow part in the middle seems to be trying to say something like “don’t eat this flower, it won’t end well”.
This photo is similar to the first and second ones, maybe these flowers are native to the state of Iowa since I feel like they are absolutely everywhere. These ones have the same physical features as the first couple other than the nice yellow in the center of the flower.
This flower had a really weird white color with a yellow tint to it, at first, there was no yellow at all but when I looked through my camera there was a decent bit of yellow. The strands coming out of the middle of the flower were visibly yellow but otherwise, this flower blew my mind.
This is one of my favorite photos that I took at the Gardens, the texture on this leaf almost doesn’t look real, it’s like a plastic one that anyone could find at a furniture store. But believe it or not, this plant is real and it really does look like that in person.
The flowers in this photo remind me of a transition scene in a movie, the birds fly across the screen to reveal a magical landscape with waterfalls and tons of wildlife. They appeared to have soft flower petals and a somewhat spiky frill around the edges.
This plant is something out of a Jurassic Park movie. This spiky plant was right next to the cactus section so it must have some sort of relation to them, it was also right next to the flower in the next photo, which is kind of odd since there is no visible relation between them.
This is by far my favorite photo from the Garden, all the color in the flower with the lively lily pads and the water ripple at the base of the flower and around the lily pads. This might be the best flower in the entire Botanical Garden
Overall the Gardens contained a variety of flowers, that varied from different lengths to colors and even different stems. The Gardens are a terrific place to visit if you enjoy beautiful scenery, or just want a day away from the Iowa weather. Admission is 10 dollars per person, but definitely worth the money.
