Do you miss the way we used to celebrate valentine’s day as a kid? There’s a huge difference between the way we celebrate Valentine’s day now compared to how we did when we were younger. Valentine’s day was really enjoyable and comforting knowing we would get candy and nice notes from classmates. Sophomore Emma Pitz states, “the thing I miss the most about valentines day parties as a kid was making the valentines boxes for our class parties.” During elementary school, we were given a period of time away from learning to celebrate and have fun with classmates. Since we are in high school Valentine’s day isn’t celebrated as much in school. Junior, Orson Harrop explains how “receiving gifts for valentines day is one of the most euphoric things one can experience”, especially in the classroom as an elementary school student.
Sophomore Mallory Wurth also explains how she misses class parties as a kid. But what she missed most was. ”I miss getting dressed up for the parties and wearing pink. But I also miss making crafts and the different fun activities at our parties.” However, even though we don’t do these things as high schoolers. There are still different ways to celebrate. If you are not in a relationship you can still celebrate the holiday with friends. Teenagers nowadays celebrate with friends, or with their loved ones. Some special restaurants and drink places will also do special cute treats like. Chick Fil A has their chicken sold in a heart container, pizza places make their pizzas shaped like a heart. Hyper, an energy bar, also has special valentines drinks. Overall valentines day has definitely changed from how we celebrated at school back in elementary to how we celebrate now as high schoolers.
