On May 25th, 1977, the Starwars galaxy was first discovered in movie theaters around the world and soon began a fandom without any knowledge of what was to come for the galactic property-meaning they had no knowledge of the sequels, prequels, or any of the other things that have been added to the property. Each fan has a memory of how they learned and started to love the property. Speech and theater teacher, Mr. Jorgensen remembers how he “grew up watching the original Star Wars movies (Episodes 4 / 5 / 6) in the 90s. They were being re-released as special editions with updated visual effects and so [he] watched them on VHS all the time. I would have been around 5 or 6 at the time. Then Episode 1 came out in ’99 and it just fueled my obsession.” Aarav Satturu, a junior remembers how he “started to love Star Wars in 2017 when [he] would watch the show Clone Wars all the time”. “Then I started to watch the movies as well”. Lastly, sophomore Finn Graziano remembered how his “mom made [him] watch the movies as a kid”. Starwars has had a significant impact on our school, as these memories are just some of the ways people have started loving the universe of Star Wars. So to all that are reading this May the fourth be with you.
