Are UGGs worth the price?

UGGs are one of the most worn shoes nowadays. Walking around the school hallways you are bound to see someone rocking these amazing shoes. With very little complaints about them, that shouldn’t be a surprise. If you are not an UGG owner you may be wondering, are they worth the hype? 

The price of UGGs ranges from $80-$500, which may blow some people’s minds especially when there are other brands that make shoes almost identical for half the price. One of the most popular types of UGG right now is the Platform Ultra Mini boots that go for $160. For many it might seem crazy to spend that much money on a pair of shoes, luckily there is a dupe on Amazon that is $80, which is half the price.  

UGG originated in Australia and was often worn by surfers for warmth. Nowadays, UGGs are worn every day. We asked students when they wear their uggs most, and here were some of the responses. Olivia McDonald, a senior, said “I wear them all the time, doesn’t matter the season!” Senior Mckay Coleman, owner of 3 pairs of UGGs replied, “I don’t care about the weather, I will always wear my uggs.”

So, are they worth the price and why? That is a commonly talked about question, and we asked others how they feel about them. Hudson Carder, a sophomore said, “They are not worth the price because you can find a shoe that’s almost identical for half the price.”Jessie Carter said, “For how expensive they are it’s inconvenient that they can’t get wet.” Senior Olivia McDonald stated, “I love my UGGs they were with every penny. They are so comfortable!” Senior Mckay Coleman, senior expressed, “Yes! I love them so much and they are so worth the price.” 

UGGs seem to be more popular than ever! With many different styles to choose from, how could they not be loved by everyone? Although they are pricey, their qualities make them worth every penny. When in doubt, get a pair of UGGs.
