Dead Plate: Take on Indie Horror Using RPG

The game ‘Dead Plate’ was released not long ago on November 6th of 2023. Only 2 months ago. When YouTubers I know saw this game it piqued their interest such as ‘Jay From the Kubz Scouts’ and ‘LaurenZside.’ They are both big YouTubers and sometimes showing from being influencers it could influence others to play that game.

~ The background of the game ~

You are Rody, a waiter in 1960’s France at a restaurant called ‘La Gueule de Saturne’ which is a really fancy Bistro. He is hired by the head chef of the place, Vincent. Vincent is quite the cold hearted type guy and surprisingly lost his taste in food when he was little. He doesn’t like the fact he hired Rody but he needs a waiter for his Bistro. Throughout Rody working there he starts to get violent nightmares about his boss being very suspicious. One day when Rody needs to take out the trash he cuts his finger, Vincent sees and smacks him because Rody apologized so quickly. On day 7 of your shift (as Rody), Vincent makes a meal especially for you. It’s not like any other meal, it’s..something very dear to him.

~ Dreaming of things to come ~

Rody (you) start (s) to get random dreams and suspicions ever since you started working at the bistro. The dreams start to get shocking and scarier one by one..as if you’re food or so being cooked. The dreams go from getting really itchy and lines on your body from where to cut to being on a platter with Vincent (The chef & your boss) with utensils stabbing you with a fork as if you’re food. 

~ Comments of the YouTubers! ~

One of my favorite YouTubers, Jay from the Kubz Scouts said in his video “it’s getting hectic, I like games like this”. Showing that he likes games that give him a little bit of a challenge. Another thing that came across on the screen was “I tried this same day over 5+ times and I suck”. That gives us an idea that the game gets more hectic over the days.

 Another YouTuber I love and was also a huge part of my childhood was LaurenZside. She was funny by saying “Time to check out my coworkers..not like..CHECK them out, but y’know check out who I’m working with”. Then her reaction to actually seeing Vincent shows a funny moment when she said “Oh, nevermind..my coworker is hot”. And being herself she shows herself telling others to not get near ‘her future boyfriend’ it puts humor into it.

~ Tips on to make the game more fun/More about the game ~

When the text pops up for the characters either ordering or the two main characters Vincent and Rody (you), Try giving them voices. And to make it even more fun when giving them voices, giving them emotion when reading what the characters are saying! Before playing the game you get a choice out of three things and the first one is to get taught a tutorial by Vincent (being the chef and your boss). 

Coming from the YouTuber’s reactions and me watching them play the game it seems as if it’s a fun game to play by giving off suspense.
