Spring break is said to be one of the most favorable times of the year! It is the second longest break during the school year and the most traveled. Living in Iowa, everyone is trying to escape from the cold and into the warm tropical weather. Nothing beats lying on the beach in the middle of March.
With spring break coming up, talking about vacation can be very exciting. We asked some people where they were going and here are some places! Harper Heston senior is spending her spring break in Jamaica! Sophomore Ben Casehaub will be in New Zealand and senior Bella Ford is spending her spring break in Playa Del Carmen.
Packing for trips can be super stressful. What if you get cold? What if you get too hot? What if you run out of outfits to take Instagram pictures in? These are all common worries while packing for spring break and we’re wondering how people prepare their bags for vacation and how soon it is too soon to pack. Senior Harper Heston says, “I make a list before packing and pack at least 3 or 4 days before I leave if I know I’m going to be busy.” Sophomore, Ben Case Haub’s strategy is, “I always make sure I have all my clothes and a toothbrush and other needs, then I’ll pack some stuff I would like to have with me for my trip. I usually pack like the day before I leave but I always have all the stuff I need.” When Senior Bella Ford is packing she says, “I make a list in my notes app and go through that. A good time to pack is probably a few days before you go, but I don’t until the night before.”
Many people enjoy laying on the beach in the hot sun to get a nice golden tan, but how many of these people would prefer being in the mountains hiking, or snowboarding? We asked some friends which vacation spot they would prefer. Harper Heston, a senior, expressed, “I’d rather go to the beach but the mountains are fun!” Ben Case Haub Sophomore claimed, “I would rather go to the beach because I like warm weather and the ocean.” Bella Ford, a senior, answered, “I like to go to both but the mountains have more activities so I would say I like them more.”
Going on vacation can be great but all great things come to an end. Whether you spend spring break on a beach, in the mountains, or just relaxing at home, it’s just what everyone needs. On the bright side, once spring break is over, you know you’re one more step closer to the end of the school year!
