2024 music; a strong start

2024 has been off to a great start for music with artists such as Kanye West, 21 Savage, and Yeat, already dropping albums. Additionally, there have been hints by Playboi Carti, Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely, Future, and Baby Keem that they might each drop albums in 2024.
Vultures: Kanye West
Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign collaborated on the album “Vultures” released on February 10th. Since then, the album has been topping the charts. The sixteen-song album faced backlash from listeners initially, but as time passed listeners fell in love with it. Songs such as “Burn,” “Carnival,” “Stars,” and “Problematic” give the album a great mix of different melodies. Personally, “Burn” is my favorite song on the album. The chorus vocals from Ty Dolla $ign flow perfectly into Kanye’s verse, where he talks about his struggles with people using him for their benefit and the other problems that come with having a successful career. Overall rating 8/10. Best songs: “Burn,” “Carnival,” and “Problematic.”
WE DON’T TRUST YOU: Future & Metro Boomin
When you pair one of the best producers of all time with one of the best artists of all time you get great results. Future has been making music since 2010 and still hasn’t seen any sort of drop in his abilities to flow on any type of beat, luckily for him, Metro is the best of the best when it comes to making unique instrumentals. The complexity of the beats on this album is insane. Each beat is crafted perfectly to fit Future’s different styles to help give variety. On top of that, the features on this album are placed flawlessly and aren’t overdone. Playboi Carti, Kendrick Lamar, Rick Ross, and Travis Scott all make appearances on tracks. On the song “Type Sh*t”, Future, Carti, and Travis Scott all come together to make one of the best songs of the year. The track “Like That” features Kendrick Lamar who gives one of his best future verses of all time while dissing artists such as Drake and J. Cole. This album also consists of a great mix of genres and different sounds with songs such as “Cinderella” and “Everyday Hustle” being more relaxed contrary to “Ain’t No Love”, “Type Sh*t”, “WTFYM”, “Young Metro”, and more being intense styled tracks. Overall rating: 9/10. Best songs “Ice Attack”, “Ain’t No Love”, ‘Young Metro”, “Like That”, and “Everyday Hustle”.
2093: Yeat
Throughout the past three years, Yeat’s career has changed drastically. Not only did his streaming numbers go up, but so did his musical genius. On the surface, his music may not seem to be very well throughout but that is the complete opposite of what it is. On his most recent album titled “2093” Yeat further proves his musical intelligence with advanced melodies and sounds during the twenty-two-song album. Heavily acclaimed artists such as Drake, Future, and Lil Wayne feature on this futuristic-sounding album. In the opening track titled ‘Breathe,” Yeat samples a scene from Cartoon Networks cartoon “Regular Show,” and on the song “ILUV,” he samples the vocals from the band “Crystal Castles” to create a complex beat while integrating unique sounding vocals of his own.
Similar to what Kanye faced with Vultures, Yeat faced early backlash from listeners but once again the more people played the album, the more they enjoyed it. With questions surrounding his mainstream potential before this release. Yeat is officially mainstream. Overall rating 8/10. Best songs: “Nothing Changë,” “Run Thëy Mouth,” “Lyfestylë,” and “ILUV.”
American Dream: 21 Savage
21 has been expanding his musical expertise in each album he releases. New sounds, styles, and melodies have helped him become one of the industry’s most respected rappers. His newest album “American Dream,” is a perfect mix of vintage 21 Savage with implements of his newer style. On songs such as “Redrum” and “Red Sky,” Savage uses intense instrumentals and lyrics to create hard tracks that sound straight out of intense movie scenes and remind fans of his 2016 style. On the contrary, songs such as “Prove It” and “See the Real” are melodic masterpieces that sound similar to his chill style from 2020. This album is a good listen for fans of all genres. Overall rating 8.5/10. Best songs: “Prove It,” “Letter to my brudda,” and “red sky.”
Potential releases; Playboi Carti: MUSIC
Carti has been hinting towards releasing a new album for a while now but every time fans believe he will finally drop, he doesn’t. Surprisingly, there is hope for the album to be released in 2024 though with Carti dropping four singles in the past two months and appearing on Kanye West’s new album. These four singles have gained millions of views on YouTube further proving how much fans anticipate the release. I believe each of the four singles is in the top ten best songs released in 2024. If this album is released in 2024, don’t be surprised if you hear a ton of talk surrounding it because the projected numbers are huge and Carti has one of the strongest fanbases in the industry.
