The annual competition between the grades in football

As the school year starts to get into full swing, homecoming week is creeping up. Homecoming week is packed with fun activities from the dance, football games, pep assemblies, and a fan favorite, powderpuff. Powderpuff showcases the girls playing football, coached by the players in their grade. But the real question is who is going to take it all?
While everyone has faith in their own team, the sophomores are bringing confidence. Sophomore player, Jett Lunde says with the overall athletes in the grade, the sophomores are going to bring the speed to pull a win. Coach Ty Eddy agrees with Lunde, stating sophomores are the team to beat. When being asked about the sophomore’s strengths, Eddy says, “Our defense is pretty good, but the offense is going to pull through.” Sophomores being the newcomers, they are going full speed ahead, but keeping an eye out for the other grades.
But Sophomores aren’t the only ones bringing confidence. Juniors think it’s going to be them. After a close loss last year by one touchdown, they’re looking for a comeback this year. Coach, Evan Jacobson says “The juniors are for sure going to win, we have the best squad.” Highlighting the team’s offense and scoring, they say their team’s unity is going to pull through to the second round and bring a junior win. But when being asked which team they need to look out for, Jacobson says the seniors. “The seniors will give us the hardest time, since they have the most experience.” While they credit the seniors for experience, they’re bringing the drive of a comeback year.
Both younger teams are confident they’re going to meet the Seniors. With the seniors going on their third year of playing they think it’s their year. They are shooting to bring home the first win for their grade after losing the last 2 years to the previous senior class. Player, Gentry Williams says, like the rest of the grades, that they are going to win, but the sophomores are getting to the second round to give them the hardest time. With the predictions of the sophomores going to the second round, they are sure that their experience and coaching staff have their back. “The coaches guide us a lot and they’re very encouraging,” says Gentry, crediting the coaching staff.
Every grade has a competitive spirit. The real question is, are the young ones gonna bring a big upset to the older teams, or are the older teams going to bring an experienced win home?
