The 2024-2025 girls’ volleyball season is off to an electric start. They’ve already taken down two strong teams, proving they’re a force to be reckoned with this year. When asked what do you think is the most important skill in volleyball, senior Teagan Mash said, “Having a tiger mentality is way better than being scared to mess up. If someone makes a mistake but wants the next ball, that’s more valuable. Being smart and tough can take you further than just skills.”
This year, the girls are putting in extra effort to push past the semifinals and secure a win. Despite losing some key seniors, they’re determined to keep growing and moving forward as a team. With the season just starting, the team already has its sights set on a deep playoff run, and based on their performance, they’re definitely on track. The Warriors can expect more exciting matches as the girls’ volleyball team aims to keep their winning streak alive and build on their strong start.
When asked what do you think makes a good teammate, sophomore Malia Roger, who played varsity as a freshman last year, said, “Supporting your team no matter the circumstances, good or bad. I love celebrating and supporting my team.” Roger also mentioned, “Something I want to improve this season is my serve and receive because it’s a key aspect of the game. If we can’t pass, we won’t be able to set or hit.” With the big game against their rival team, Northwest, coming up, the team is more determined than ever.
When I asked how you handle mistakes during a game, junior Stella Braddock said, “I handle mistakes by trying to forget about them and make them up the next play. I also make it a point to keep cheering on my teammates which can help me from getting in my head about my mistakes”. As the season progresses, the team’s focus on getting better, staying strong, and working together will be super important if they want to win state. Both fans and rivals should get ready for an exciting season.
