Do students at Waukee High School set resolutions?

New Year’s Resolutions, with how often they’re mentioned in the media, do people actually set them? Students at Waukee High School seem to be divided over them with some setting resolutions and some ignoring them. After polling 15 students, though it’s very close, the tradition pulls through with just over 53% setting a resolution this year.
But why? Why do some not set resolutions? Senior Noah Duff mentioned, “I can never really commit even if I have one.” While some chose not to participate, of the students who did, most set a school-related resolution.
One student with an educational resolution is junior Ariel Martol, who stated her resolution is “to have all A’s” and that “it has been going very well.” While a majority of those who set a resolution chose one to aid in their education, a few chose from other categories. One student who chose from another category is sophomore Gemma Bingham, whose resolution was related to her religion. Bingham stated her resolution was “to read my Book of Mormon 3 times this year.” Though the trend of setting a resolution for the new year seems to be fading, there were still many at Waukee High School who chose to participate.
