Go Check Out Art Club

Our school has many clubs for students to join for growth and entertainment. One of those clubs is the Art Club. It is a welcoming space where you can get caught up in class work, focus on personal projects, or help come up with creative designs for the projects the school assigns to the group. The club is overseen by Ms. Dale, who also teaches many art classes. It takes place on Thursdays after school in her classroom.

The environment at Art Club can seem a little chaotic with everyone doing something different. Junior Bella Tsao said she likes to, “draw in my sketchbook and sometimes crochet.” However, you will also see people painting, making digital art, and using clay to make sculptures. You can bring your own materials but there are also many supplies in the room that you are free to use. 

In addition to personal projects, they also get commissions from the school and other clubs to make our school look brighter and show off the creativity of our students. According to Senior Skylar Sanchez, one recent project they got assigned was to, “create a design on the media doors since they were switched to grey ones.” Now you can see how their hard work has come to life when you pass by the media room in the hallway. However, participation in these projects is entirely optional so students get to choose how involved they want to be.

One aspect many members find appealing is how open and available it is to the public. There are no qualifications or requirements to join the art club. Sophomore Ginny Henry pointed out that, “anyone is welcome to art club and there is not a certain attendance… you may come and go as you please.” They also have a GroupMe for letting people know if you are going to be able to attend and to share information.

If you’re looking for a space where you can express yourself in a tactile way or just want a place to talk to friends and relax, Art Club is the place for you. It is the perfect atmosphere for trying new things and growing as a person and artist.
