Eusexua: FKA Twigs Fuses Party Music With Art-Pop

The queer pop scene may have recently had a Brat summer, but with FKA Twigs new album, a Eusexua winter is upon us. The album starts off with a killer title track that transports the listener straight into the best sci-fi film ever made, crafting a serene and intimate soundscape that verges on pure ethereality. The record’s second track, Girl Feels Good, might catapult Twigs to pop icon status. A euphoric fusion between Kylie Minogue and Madonna, this song may be the start of a long overdue Trip Hop renaissance in the 21st century. Eusexua’s lead single, Drums of Death, feels like a lost S ophie song, combining glitch-pop production with transcendent drum beats that will surprise even the most seasoned pop fan. Childlike Things, a non-single track featuring North West of all people has (of course) turned out to be a niche sensation on Floptok and Stan Twitter. With its nursery rhyme beat and a verse of Kim Kardashian’s daughter rapping about her Christian faith in Japanese, FKA Twigs might have created the silliest dance-pop song of the year. Juxtaposing the previous track’s innocent absurdity, Striptease is another ethereal club hit that fans have been waiting close to two years to hear in full. After Calvin Klein featured the unreleased track in an advertisement, fans were left wondering if the full song would ever be released. Luckily, it’s finally here and features some of the most daring vocals of Twigs’s career. All in all, Eusexua stands as one of the best FKA Twigs projects out there.
