February is one of the busiest months in the school year activity-wise, it’s also one of the busiest months with there being the Grammys, Super Bowl, and of course Valentine’s Day. So here’s everything you missed at the Grammys, plus some major updates on celebrities you also might have missed.
Comedian and former “The Daily Show:” host Trevor Noah, hosted the ceremony for the fifth time in a row. Throughout the show, Noah reminded viewers and sponsors to donate to relief efforts in California because of the California wildfires.
Kendrick Lamar took home 5 Grammys with his song “Not Like Us”. The song won Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Music Video, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance. A week after the Grammys, Kendrick performed for the Super Bowl halftime show.
Beyonce won the Grammys biggest award, winning Album of the Year for “Cowboy Carter”. Beyonce won 3 Grammys in total becoming the first black artist to win Best Country Album. Along with that, Beyonce became the first black woman to win Album of the Year since 1999’s Lauryn Hill.
Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga were nominated for several awards for their song “Die with a Smile” and performed at the Grammys. However, instead of singing their hit song together, they opted to sing “California Dreamin’” by the Mamas & the Papas. Lady Gaga also released her new song on Feb 3rd called “Abracadabra” and is set to release her new album “MAYHEM” on March 7th.
However, it was Chappell Roan’s big night as she won her first ever Grammy, winning Best New Artist. The rising star gave an acceptance speech, and in her speech, Roan called on record labels to give affordable wages and health care to newly developing artists. Along with winning a Grammy, Roan also performed her song Pink Pony Club. Since the Grammys Roan has announced her new album “The Giver”.
Doechii won Best Rap Album with her album “Alligator Bites Never Heal” being the only woman in her category. Sabrina Carpenter won Best Pop Vocal Album with her album “Short n’ Sweet”.
Overall the Grammys were an overall success creating a lot of buzz this year with there being a lot of talk about it on social media.
