Our annual Winter Formal is coming up on Thursday, February 27th, this dance will be held at the high school in the West Gym and go from 8 pm-10 pm, the theme is Alice in Wonderland. The National Honors Society is in charge of planning this dance, in contrast to homecoming and prom which is planned by the student council. Although it’s mainly held in the gym, students will also be able to gather in the cafeteria. The rest of the school will be blocked off including the choir hallway. Winter Formal is one of the less popular dances however it gives people something to look forward to between homecoming and prom. Most people take the dress code as wearing black, dark blue or green, and white. Tickets can be bought online for $12.
I asked Senior Cat Bower her thoughts on her last Winter Formal and she stated, “I’m excited for my last Winter Formal because I get to dress up, I didn’t go last year but I can’t believe it’s my last one.” Sophomore Eli Givant said, “I kinda wish it wasn’t in the school and I don’t really know what to expect but I’m pretty excited for another dance since I can’t go to prom yet.” Piper Nicholson, a junior from Northwest said, “Our Winter Formal was super early this year, and we got to have it at a ballroom instead of school so that made it a lot more fun.” Since the Winter Formal is planned by the NHS, I asked one of the members, senior Emma Pitz, how it was to plan it and she said, “With planning Winter Formal, it takes lots of creativity and lots of different planning groups to make it happen.”
Everyone is getting excited to go, will you be there?
