Celsius vs. Alani

Which is better, Celsius or Alani? There are many different brands of energy drinks like Alani, Celsius, Redbull, Monster, Ghost, and many more. However, I’m specifically going to talk about Celsius and Alani. Partly because Celsius had just bought Alani for 1.8 billion dollars, this happened in February and shocked the public. Alani Nutrition is a newer brand of energy drink that was founded in 2018 but has completely blown up since then. Celsius was founded in 2004 and has been around much longer than Alani, but it was still surprising when we got the news that Celsius had officially bought Alani. The reason behind Celsius buying Alani was that the owners of Celsius knew that combining to make one even larger brand of energy drinks would be a huge deal. Especially with Alani’s growing brand, they knew it would be a success to combine two of the biggest energy drink brands.

To begin, let’s talk about Alani. Alani Nutrition is a brand founded by Katy Hearn and was focused on empowering one’s health and wellness. Alani has many different flavors, including some of the most popular ones, Pink Slush, Cherry Twist, Orange Kiss, Cherry Slush, Blue Slush, Dream Float, and more. If you want to try an Alani and aren’t sure which one you should buy, sophomore Makenna Parsons said, “Pink slush is my favorite flavor because I like strawberry-flavored things and the pink slush has a good strawberry flavoring.” While Alanis aren’t the healthiest drinks and do have some unhealthy ingredients like erythritol and sucralose which are artificial sweeteners that are believed to possibly have negative health effects, they bring energy, fun flavors, and are a low-calorie option. Another student, sophomore Lola Wood, recommends Cherry Twist. She said, “My favorite flavor is Cherry Twist because it tastes really good.” Alani is also coming out with new flavors and has recently dropped a new edition of Watermelon Wave, which has a watermelon and lemon flavoring. They have also recently created a new drink called Strawberry Sunrise, which has an orange-strawberry flavor.

Now, let’s move on to Celsius. Celsius was founded by Steve Haley and was created to raise your metabolism resulting in a calorie burn. Similarly to Alani, Celsius has many flavors and some of the most popular ones include, Arctic Vibe, Peach Vibe, Astro Vibe, Sparkling Wild Berry, Fantasy Vibe, and more. Celsius also has artificial sweeteners and high amounts of caffeine but is great if you need a boost of energy for a workout or just on a normal day. As someone who has drank a lot of energy drinks, I recommend Peach Vibe or Artic Vibe. Arctic Vibe is a sparkling frozen berry flavor while Peach Vibe is a sparkling white peach flavor. Both options are very strong but very good. Another opinion is from Layla Hamilton who said, “Astro Vibe is my favorite Celsius and I would recommend it because the flavor is blue raspberry and the other flavors of Celsius are bland and not as sweet.” While Celsius isn’t dropping new flavors as consistently as Alani, they do have other options. Celsius has a fizz-free line of drinks with flavors of blue razz lemonade, peach mango with green tea, and raspberry açai with green tea. This is a good alternative for people who don’t like carbonated drinks, but still want caffeine and a fun drink.

Finally, let’s discuss which energy drink is best. When it comes to flavors, Alani has 12 and Celsius has 29 different flavors. Both drinks can result in negative health problems if too much is consumed, especially if not in moderation. But, specifically, when it comes to which drink tastes better I prefer Celsius because it is a lot less sweet than Alani and I don’t like overly sweet drinks. However, Lola said, “I prefer Alani because the flavors are better and there’s a lot of variety within the flavors.” Comparably to Lola, Makenna said, “I prefer Alani because I like the flavors more and it doesn’t make me shake while Celsius’s do.” This is a very controversial topic and similarly to myself, Layla said, “I prefer Celsius over Alani because Alani flavors aren’t very good and Celsius has any flavors that are combined and go well together.” This debate hasn’t yet been settled but which do you like more, Celsius or Alani?
