This past Friday Ariana Grande came out with her deluxe album for her 7th studio album, Eternal Sunshine Deluxe: Brighter Days Ahead. This added 6 extra songs, “Intro (end of the world)-extended”, “Twilight Zone”, “Warm”, “Dandelion”, “Past Life”, and “Hampstead”. She also released a 26-minute short film “Brighter Days Ahead”. Many fans were excited about this because in the past year, she has mainly focused on promoting “Wicked” and singing theatrically rather than her usual popstar sound. Fans specifically enjoyed “dandelion” due to its pop sound. In this short film Ariana was shown as an old woman in contrast to how we’re used to seeing her.
This deluxe album is heavily focused on love, heartbreak, and vulnerability. Ariana has faced backlash in the last year because of the Ethan Slater affair scandal along with her body image being under criticism with co-star Cynthia Erivo. However; this album has been very well received, being recognized as an “evolutionary” step in her career. Senior Chuchu Ladu said, “I’m not a huge fan of Ariana Grande but I’ve heard some of the new songs on Tiktok and they sound good”. Junior Sophie Smart stated, “I love Wicked but I did miss Ariana’s pop music, and I already loved the original album so to get 6 more songs was great”.
Next time you’re getting ready for work or school, driving, working out, or hanging out with friends give this album a listen and you won’t be disappointed.
