The Waukee Community School district is getting a new pool (or aquatics facility), very soon and all the information that is known to the public will be shared in this article. So far, we know that the facility will accommodate both of the Waukee Highschools swimming programs, meaning that both Northwest and the Waukee Highschool will be able to use the pool to their needs. The design plans are also done, which was discussed at a Board of Education meeting not too long ago. Construction is set to complete in July or August of 2023, which means the schools will be able to use the facility for the 2023-2024 school year. What is known about the building is that it will be 61,000 square feet and will have two pools. The first pool, which is 50 meters by 25 yards, will be used for competitions mainly, along with diving. The second smaller pool is going to be a four-lane, 25-yard pool. The smaller pool will mainly be used for extracurricular activities, such as swimming lessons. The building is said to be 33 million dollars and will have three stories. The three stories accommodate 1,000 spectators that want to view swimming competitions, practices, or even extracurricular activities. The future is bright for Waukee, and the pool is one way to show it.
