War Thunder is a free-to-play online game based on realistic war vehicles, released by Gaijin entertainment in November of 2012 War Thunder is one of the more realistic games out there!
When you first start the game you start at the reserve or 1.0 battle rating, basically the smallest and weakest tanks of the game, you get suggested to do the test and preparations for the game so you have the basics of how to play before your first battle. If you decide to do the preparations you also get golden eagles and silver lions, these are both in-game currencies that you will need to proceed in the game.
After completing the preps you can go into your first battle between ground, air, coastal, or naval battles. If you choose ground you get to use your tanks to push and capture three objective points or one major point. Depending on how your first game goes you might be really good at it, you could try playing realistic battles rather than arcade.
In arcade battles, you have a faster reload rate, more power, and can bounce but also penetrate more armor with your rounds. If your teammates see an enemy they immediately get spotted by everyone on your team and also appear on your mini-map. In realistic battles it pretty much is exactly what it sounds like, You can spot enemies but they do not appear on everyone else’s screen. You can also angle your vehicle to make penetration possibility lower so you can stay in the battle longer. The type of ammunition you use is also important in realistic battles since you need a certain type for different thicknesses of armor or different types of vehicles.
War Thunder has 2,000 plus vehicles ranging from ground to air to the deep blue sea. Ground vehicles consist of anti-air, light, medium, and heavy tanks. Air consists mainly of propeller planes, jets, and some helicopters. And the coastal vehicles are light medium and heavy cruisers, and some smaller U-boats and torpedo ships.
Both ground, air, and naval battles all include arcade and realistic battle modes. Usually, around holidays there are new game modes that kind of relate to whatever season/ holiday it is. Gaijin also releases one or two new vehicles every couple of months.
There has not yet been a War Thunder 2 or any additions to the game which kinda says that since 2012 to now, War Thunder is a very successful and enjoyable game!
