Are we too old to participate in Easter egg hunts?
Students weigh in on this nostalgic tradition

During Easter one of the fun activities people enjoy doing is egg hunting with friends and family. But as we get older, do we really need to keep Easter egg hunting? Or is it just for the younger ones? For some people they might have younger siblings or cousins, so the tradition keeps going. For some other people they might get to a certain age where they stop the tradition or others might have older cousins and siblings so the tradition stops sooner. Either way I think Easter eggs do play a very significant role in the holiday, but even if there isn’t any eggs, Easter is still a fun time to be with family and celebrate.
Sophomore Ella Bryant said she no longer hunts for eggs. “But I do get easter baskets from the easter bunny,” she said. “I wish I still did Easter egg hunts because they used to be super fun to do with my brother and cousins.”
Junior Mariella Lynn, on the other hand, still enjoys the tradition. “I like doing Easter egg hunts because we win big prizes and get to relive being a kid,” she said. I also agree with Mariella Lynn, because getting to do Easter egg hunts as a kid was always for the fun prizes.
Easter egg hunts are just one of many holiday activities that we could potentially “outgrow” or have already outgrown. Trick-or-treating and even Christmas presents from Santa is another. Think about this for a second: When does our childhood and all the fun child-like activities truly come to an end? When are we finally young adults searching for who we are and the kind of life we want to build instead of searching for easter eggs.
Easter egg hunts were just one of the fun ways to celebrate the holiday as a kid with friends and family. So do you wish you could relive your childhood, too?
