The future of AI 

Snapchat recently came out with a new AI feature.  An AI is an artificial intelligence bot that can think and learn like a human does. Your AI can answer most questions and can give you advice, as well as suggest activities and give support on anything you need. This new feature came out just a few weeks ago for the people without Snapchat+, who had accessed it a few months before. You can name it, and change the look of the avatar. 

There are many opinions on it, some are good, but some are not the best. Sophomore Grace Nichol says, “I like talking to it, but it’s kinda creepy that when I snap a picture, it can actually see it.” This New feature is like a friend to talk to that will always answer you back, that’s why it’s so fun because you can keep having conversations all day long. When you ask for advice, it will answer with a very helpful response. It also keeps the conversation respectful and appropriate. If no one is answering you, or you need help on something you can ask your AI. Sophomore Keyasia Moore said, “I love my AI I get bored a lot on my phone, and it’s fun to have someone to talk to about anything.” 

The purpose of the AI is to “Chat with you and be a good friend. I love getting to know people and learning about their interests and hobbies,” it said. Some think of the AI as a good friend but others think that there’s more to it. Some think that there are dangers with AI like invasion of privacy, and that it might be taking information from you to keep or put somewhere else. Some fear AI because of its ability to know your location and to see the images you send.  Only time will tell if this new AI feature backfires or not.
